The Team at East Park Care Centre

... 'where care matters most and independence is assured' .....

The Centre is a family concern, where Mrs Leitch provides care with her 3 daughters. Karen Murray is the Registered Manager holding NVQ Level 4. Jane Haskayne is the Senior Carer who holds NVQ Level 4 in Care. Julie Leitch is currently a silent partner.

The Centre also employs another Senoir Carers, who is undergoing Level 3 in Care. All of the care team are either qualified at Level 2 in Care, or are currently in qualification. This is well above the 50% requirement of the current regulations. The team have duties involving direct care, catering and housekeeping.

Wilma Leitch is a qualified nurse with extensive experince in both hospital & care centre environments. She opened East Park Care Centre in 1984 with her daughter Karen, when there were only four residents. Although semi-retired, she takes very active interest in the day to day running of the centre.

Karen Murray started working in care at the age of 14. She worked with her Mum when East Park opened, before going on to university. Following her graduation she spent 7 years working in London before returning to the Centre in 1997. in 1998 she won West Wales Small Business Manager Award.

She has subsequently gained a further degree in Psychology, and is able to offer counselling to residents, their families, as well as team members.

Responsible for the running of the Centre, Karen is also registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, providing in-house training for all team members. She is responsible for the Investor in People Award and is also a Moving and Handling Trainer.

She is keen to promote the holistic approach to care at East Park, and is a Reiki Master and qualified Angel and Ascension Teacher. She also runs Golden Atlantis and Transform your Life Workshops in association with the Diana Cooper School of Angels and Ascension, and is a Reiki Healing Therapist.  

Jane Haskayne has worked for 20 years in care, working mostly in care homes. She holds a Level 4 NVQ in Care. Jane prides herself in the quality of care that she & her team provide and is the Centres dedicated Moving and Handling Trainer, along side Karen.

Angela Edwards is the other Senior Carer, and is studying NVQ Level 3 in Care. She also oversees the kitchen activities. Angela is popular with the residents and there is always lots of fun and laughter when she is on duty!

Joe is a one of two recent promotions to the Senior Care Team, and is now a Deputy Senior Carer.
