Social and Leisure Activities
... 'where care matters most and independence is assured' .....
We try and make it possible for our residents to live as full a life as possible. As part of the assessment process we encourage the resident to share with us as much information as possible about their social, cultural and leisure interests. Residents are encouraged to hold regular meetings and to advise the Centre of any necessary outcomes.
East Park is well integrated into the local community and receives regular visits from the local G.P., District Nurses, Hairdressers, a Physiotherapist, a Chiropodist, a Reflexologist and other alternative therapists such as Aromatherapy and Remedial Massage therapists, as well as access to a Mobile Library. At election time the local MP's come into the Centre to visit.
We provide daily newspapers and magzines, and have a shop, pub, coffee shop and church in our village. We also have Theme Days once a month, and mark special days such as St. David's Day and St Patrick's Day. We also have regular parties for birthdays, and other special occasions.
We arrange outings for shopping, trips to the theatres, local events and any places of interest to the residents - again these are arranged following Residents Meetings or through individual requests.
Arrangements for religious observances
Service users whom practise their religion will be given evry possible help and encouragement in this area.
- The local church is Church of Wales, and is a short walk away for thise wishing to attend church. A communion service is held in the Centre monthly.
- The local Roman Catholic priest is available and visits when necessary.
- Any special minority faith should be discussed prior to admission.
Relatives, Friends and Representatives
We encourage residents to continue with friendships and activites outside the centre. Visitors are always welcome, but where possible should avoid meal times.
